Moxibustion (referred to as “moxa”) is a thermal therapy that is often used during treatment. The Artimisiae vulgaris herb is heated on or close to the skin at various acupuncture points. Moxa can be placed on the tops of needles or directly on the skin. This is a safe and enjoyable therapy that can help ease pain from arthritis and muscle strain. The heat is penetrating and is used to nourish specific points to promote circulation and relaxation. Out of respect for patients who are sensitive to smoke, Romako Acupuncture offers moxibustion treatments on Saturdays only.
